Imagine early civilizations - Roman, Greek, Egyptian and more – exploring the Mediterranean. How magical that we can see it all from orbit, in this perfectly timed flight path.

Astronaut Butch Wilmore did the cinematography. Recently returned from an extended stay on the ISS, he used his time well observing and photographing Earth.

Randy Souviney plays timeless music, with his electric guitar and wizardry in the recording studio – created as he watched this Earth flight.

A personal story: Randy and Dan first met 30 years ago, when we worked with astronaut Sally Ride on an NSF grant. We showed Earth photos to astronauts, scientists and middle school students, to compare what they saw in the images. Astronauts, scientists and students differed – but they all felt fascination and joy.

Randy led work with the students. I didn’t know he was also a musician. A few weeks ago, Randy re-contacted me – he loves Earth Music Theater and wanted to use his music with an Earth movie. He had a rock band in college. . .and has done music ever since. Terrific! We went back and forth on ideas – and came up with Time Traveler.

We dedicate this movie to Sally Ride, with thanks from all of humanity.

What an honor and treat to work with her, America’s first female astronaut. Warm, active, curious – and way smart. And my first entre into astronaut photography of Earth.
